NAFM Exhibits at PACK EXPO 2011 to Showcase In-Line Shrink Labeling Machine.
NAFM’s LX-500 high-speed is an in-line shrink labeling machine with heavy duty construction. They are displaying it along with other machines at the 2011 Pack Expo Las Vegas, booth C550 in Central Hall. NAFM will be demonstrating how the LX-500 is equipped with dual unwind system allowing continued operation with a brief splicing stop and how the shrink labeling or neck-banding operates up to 500 CPM on a single head “Bullet” technology.
The LX-500 machine and its capabilities, the roll of material is pulled on to a floating bullet (mandrel) by a set of drive rollers and driven by a servo-motor. The drive rollers provide an accurate intermittent advance of the label material, controlled by a photo-eye sensor reading each impression.
A set of six (typical) rotating blades cut the label as it stops momentarily on the bullet, then drive rollers slides the label further down on to the container. At this point, the label is in specific shape (cylindrical, oval, square, rectangle) given by the bullet (mandrel), and aligned precisely to the container for smooth transfer.
A timing screw or a spacing wheel can be provided for separation and alignment of the containers to coincide with the label transfer. After the labels are applied, containers to coincide with the label transfer. After the labels are applied, containers may have to go through a label brush down device to make certain that the bottom of the labels are flush against the conveyor surface.
LX-500 is microprocessor controlled (PLC) and is equipped with a touch-screen control panel (HMI).
The size change-over is simple and quick. The cut length can be changed electronically by touching the control panel. For different diameter, a new set of timing screw and bullet (mandrel) are installed. Different bottle height is accommodated by raising or lowering the machine by motorized hoisting mechanism.
